Color band application taps increase drilling productivity because the colored markings are designed for the material which corresponds with the colored tap. This will provide a more quality finish and a greater number of holes per tap; thus reducing your costs over time by extending the life of your drill tap.

• Red band taps are designed for high tensile materials (100 tons per sq. inch) and a hardness of 470HB. The spiral flute taps have a helix angle of 15 degrees.


• Blue band taps are designed for durable materials and are used to tap materials with hardness up to 350HB, and a tensile strength of 80 tons per sq. inch. Blue taps are supplied with a steam oxide finish. A yellow band tap is designed for ductile metals. The flutes are wider which allows more efficient removal of chips. The yellow band tap is available in a bright finish.


• The white band tap is applied to taps with applications for abrasive materials with a tensile strength up to 65 tons per sq. inch. There is a larger amount of the flutes, and the tap has a 15 degree right hand helix. The finish is nitride coating that is steam tempered.
